We caught up with the winner of the Teamtailor HR Hero Award, Johanna Nordin, on her inspirations, plans for next year and top tips for HR professionals!
Are there any HR initiatives that you are extra proud of?
During 2021 we initiated a sustainability strategy and objectives to reach by 2025, linked to our global sustainability goals. As sustainability isn’t a topic for HR only, I am glad that we initiated the fairly extensive project involving the whole organisation.
I am also very proud of our new cultural framework ‘The way we PLAY’, which we developed during 2021. Our previous culture work has been good but a bit inconsistent, so now we felt the need to shape something common for the entire group. Going through a pandemic together, it’s been extra important to have shared values and a sense of community. It has served as a compass in the very uncertain and always-changing everyday life that we’ve gone through, which has hit our organisation quite hard.
Is there anything you think all HR teams should do (to exceed expectations)?
The key is to find a good balance between listening to the needs of the business and at the same time dare to follow through with initiatives that you believe could add value to the organisation.
What are your plans for next year? Anything fun in the pipe that you can share?
I’m actually starting another adventure at the beginning of next year, as I will become a mother! My colleagues in the HR team will be focusing a lot on the recruitment as we will continue to grow. Next year will be a lot about finding the right talent, but also about developing the existing employees. We’ll be optimising the recruitment strategy to make sure the whole team is recruiting in a more structured and collective way.
How has your work changed during the pandemic?
I don’t know how many times we’ve decided on a plan that we’ve then had to scrap the next day due to new restrictions or changed conditions that suddenly made our plan unworkable. It’s been challenging for the entire organisation, especially to stay creative and come up with new ideas even though we knew that the conditions could change at any time. I would say that the pandemic has encouraged me and the organisation to work even more flexible and adaptable. It’s made us dare to drive on the ideas we have and test ourselves instead of waiting and waiting for more stable times – because if we would’ve done so we probably wouldn’t have gotten anywhere.
What inspires you?
I get inspired by colleagues that are committed and have a strong vision for the future. That's one of the main reasons why I think it's so fun to work at Pophouse Entertainment. There is so much passion and drive for everything we want to do in the future, and it inspires me to work in an environment where there is a belief and feeling that everything is possible.
Which is your favourite Teamtailor feature?
Oh, that’s a hard one – there are so many! If I have to choose, it's probably the smart schedule function. It’s great to be able to send out suggestions for interview times to so many candidates at the same time and avoid the otherwise time-consuming process of finding gaps for both candidates and possibly others who will be present during the interview.
